Term 2

Welcome back to a very busy and short term. So much has happened already - the welcome for Matthew White, the school 'Pet Liturgy' and netball to name a few.

We have four new amazing Ruru's - Megan, Mouanaki, Tess and Tekafa; all settling in well.

We have just begun 'Diving In' to our Inquiry topic 'Animals and their Habitat'.

Sorting, categorising and talking about animals and where they might live.

Coming up this Thursday is our 'Buddy Class Liturgy' at 11:30 (new time) 22nd May in Pukeko class.

We look forward to sharing more of our learning experiences with our Whanau and friends.

Thanks Onieka Tristram

'Get low, get down, get out fast'

Getting out of a room filled with smoke.

The Fire Truck

We had the fire service come and visit the Junior Syndicate to finish our Firewise safety program.  The children in Ruru and Tui were lucky to have a turn using the high pressure hose, al lot of fun!

Santino sharing his writing in the
'Writers/Authors Chair'
Olli sharing his writing in the
'Writers/Authors Chair'

Last week in Ruru we started the 'Writers/Authors Chair'. This is a time after writing that 2 children are chosen to share writing with their peers. It is also a time where the whole class is learning to give feedback and praise to others.

Come and have a look at our writing display in the hallway by the classroom.

Today I was really proud to hear that the secret person from assembly on Friday chose Ruru class to have 10 minutes free play. The Ruru's showed respect by arriving and leaving church quietly, well done!
On the playground having fun.
Using the climbing wall.
Playing a game using shapes.

Today we did shared writing from our Big Book 'Lavalava'. We talked about where we might wear a Lavalava and then we made a picture of ourselves wearing a Lavalava and finished a sentence. Mrs T then videoed us on the ipad sharing our writing.
